Corinne is a thirty-five year old wife and mother. Back
in July of 2003 Corinne became ill with what seemed to be a
stomach virus. She had gone to her local clinic where they
gave her something to ease the vomitting, symptoms continued
for two days accompanied by a terrible headache. During a
visit back to the clinic, Corinne went unconscious and was
rushed to Lourdes Hospital. There her family would soon find
out she suffered a massive stroke. She was put on a
ventilator and remained in a coma. It would be ten months
before Corinne was brought home. Doctors have concluded the
stroke was a result of the birth control Yasmin, which
Corinne had only been on for about a week before she became
sick.

The stroke left Corinne paralyzed and mute, known as Locked
in Syndrome. She learned how to facilitate with eye
movements. While it was a struggle for her family and her
to adjust , it is also a blessing that Corinne is able to
watch her youngest daughter (Marinna who was just 8 months
in 2003) grow up, along with her three step children. To
help educate others of her situation Corinne has given a
presentation at Hartwick college for the Nursing students
for the past three years.
